Live Long and Prosper

About a month and a half ago, I received news that I never wanted to hear. Though it had been anticipated, it was no more accepted. A 16 year old boy, one whom I had gotten the chance to know over the past two years, had lost a long and well-fought battle. As a Penn State THON child, Eli fought cancer for half of his life. The first word that comes to mind when I think about this unfortunate situation is unfair. It's unfair for any child to battle cancer. It's unfair for such a genuinely amazing, smart, curious and outgoing boy to not have the chance to live the life he deserves. Though his life was cut short, it was no less extraordinary. The lessons he taught others through his strength and actions are more than inspiring. He is my hero and I aspire to be the type of person he was. This one goes out to you Eli. How lucky am I to have another amazing angel in the sky looking after me.
